What is a Nurse Practitioner:

A Nurse Practitioner starts out as a registered nurse who continues their schooling to complete a minimum of a Masters Degree Graduate level of education specializing in their chosen specialty field; some Nurse Practitioners chose to continue  their education at the Doctoral level. Regardless of their degree level all Nurse Practitioners must sit for and pass a rigorous national board certification exam in their specialty. Nurse Practitioners are also required to maintain continuing educational hours in order to renew their national certifications. In most states including Arizona Nurse Practitioners practice without the supervision of a physician.
